Sue and I would like to introduce to our loyal blog readers our new cats called:
Nigel and Ravel
Nigel is the orange British looking one and Ravel is the slinky one who looks like a 20th century French composer. They are 6 months old and brothers.
This 7 inch snow fall from earlier this week is being washed away today by a steady mist. It was also a rainy day on September 22nd, 2001 when we spontaneously adopted Mr. Mahler. We were planning to meet these two cats today and then arrange to pick them up after Easter once Tailwheel returned to his Mutterland (Wisconsin). But once you meet a couple of cuddly brother cats, you can’t help taking them home right then, right there.
Nigel is a little bigger and a little more shy than Ravel. They are both fixed and they both will forever have all of their claws. Sue has promised to learn how to trim cat nails. We’re going to buy a good scratching post for them to shred.
Mr. Wheel didn’t look thrilled to see the newcomers but he’s used to being around cats in our house. We were remembering the times he visited us when Puccini, Mahler, and Milhaud were all very active and ready to fight. Uncle Tailwheel will be fine.
This was Nigel’s first dash from the crate into the laundry room. We adopted these guys from Last Hope, a no-kill shelter at Petco. They were given up by their owner in Marshall, Minnesota when she had to move out of state. They were with a foster parent for about a month.
Ravel has the prototypical black cat ruffle of white chest hair that Mr. Mahler also had. As these guys seem like gangly teenagers, we’re looking forward to them filling out and becoming fat cats. Originally they were named Bo and Luke Duke but the foster parent called them Lucas and Booker T. and now we will call them:
Nigel and Ravel
