Yes We Cancun

 

Here is Sue upon our arrival at the Cancun airport.  We were waiting for out Canada Transfers van to swing around and pick us up for the 20 minute ride to our resort.  Sue looks relaxed already, doesn’t she?  We paid to check on bag to haul our gallons of sunscreen, yoga clothes, and many bathing costumes.

Sue does a lot of commenting on Trip Advisor Dot Com.  She describes it as a hobby.  She answers people’s questions about hotels we’ve been to and transportation options and sights to see and many other things. Because we were return visitors to Live Aqua and maybe because they love Sue’s comments, we were upgraded from an ocean view room to an ocean front room.  With our fifth floor room we were given access to the exclusive Aqua Club lounge where we actually checked in to the hotel.  The lounge has “continental breakfast” and snacks throughout the day as well as a full bar.  Here is Sue checking us in right before receiving her complimentary hand massage.

Every morning except for one we ate breakfast in this lounge and took our coffee.  There was an older British couple who used this lounge for their afternoon tea – we saw them there having a spot of tea whilst we were getting our happy hour pre-dinner Gin and tonic.  After about two days, the lounge staff guy, Michel knew that we would order a Bombay Sapphire and tonic.  I threw him off on our last night by ordering “dose cosmopolitan” with a Spanish accent.

They offered to us an upgrade to one of the suites for only an extra $180 per night.  We declined. how much luxury do we need?

Here is our room complete with a colorful welcoming rice message.  This room was the same as our room last year accept for the shape.  I liked last year’s room with the trapezoidal-shaped bathroom and triangular balcony.  However, this room had a great view of the sunrise and the moonrise on the first night.

The top ranked hotel (Leblanc) in Cancun on trip adviser does not have balconies on the rooms facing the ocean.  What?  Live Aqua, the number two ranked on Trip Advisor knows the importance of a proper balcony.

If you squint a little bit you might be able to see the western shores of Cuba (probably not.)  We did see a number of cruise ships and other large ships sailing parallel to the shore.  I didn’t pace it out but the dark blue pool has to be at least 100 yards wide.  In the lower left corner, the brown thatched roof is the Hidden Garden Asian restaurant.  The thatched roof in the lower middle is where we took our yoga lessons with Erika.

They even sent us up a bottle of Italian sparkling wine.  I didn’t want to open it in the room and risk shattering a mirror so instead I opened it on the balcony where the cork described a parabola arcing up to the sixth floor and landing in the jungle next to the garden view rooms.  Oops.  I guess we’d have to drink it all in one sitting – lost the cork!  Now I know why they give you a cloth to put over the bottle when you open it.
