Sue and I went to the Orpheum on Saturday afternoon for The Phantom of the Opera. This traveling production is the new version of the show which features new sets but the same music as far as I can tell. This is the first time we’ve seen Phantom live and it does live up to the hype. There’s a reason it’s the longest running show on Broadway at 25 years.
I read about the Puccini family estate suing Andrew Lloyd Webber claiming he stole one of the tunes from a Puccini opera. There was another person who claimed Webber took his tune and then Webber counter sued him saying he stole from an earlier Webber musical. No one ever wins these cases.
I popped into the Mall of the Americas yesterday during a nasty snow storm that made the roads slippery and slow. Sue and Christoph drove back from Wisconsin last night on the slippery roads after the Deinhammer Christmas party.
After Phantom, Sue and I headed out to Wisconsin for some Berg Family Fun Time. Here Lauren poses for the camera.

The Berg side of the family is a large group of people. This may be the first time they celebrated Christmas together on a day that was not December 24th. Sharron sported the Clay Matthews jersey but wore her hair considerably shorter than Clay’s.

And here is the proof that Christoph, the prodigal host-son has returned from the United Arab emirates via Abu Dhabi, Paris, and Chicago. We had a nice deli-style lunch from Byerly’s including sushi, curry chicken salad, fruit salad, and sourdough bread. The amount of Christoph’s jetlag is not insignificant. . .
. . . so I put him to work sweeping the powdery snow off the front steps and sidewalk.
He reported the temperature was very cold.
And finally to end this lengthy post, Sue tore down the climbing post / Christmas tree. The cats will miss it.
