It has been almost a week since the last blog entry so here goes. Nigel and Ravel have been here about a month now and seem to have settled in perfectly. They basically own the place. When I get up in the morning, the first thing I have to do is feed the cats. They are insistent. So far, they've eaten everything we've put in their bowls and in record time.
When you pick up Ravel, his body feels like an overstuffed sausage. Both of these guys are still trying to figure out how to best not claw us when they are handled. When he jumps in your lap, if he needs to stabilize his weight, he naturally digs in with the claws. Ouch.
This morning we went on the Guthrie Theater architectural tour that Sue got me tickets for my birthday. Here's the view from the Guthrie looking out over the Stone Arch Bridge and St Anthony Falls.
The Guthrie Theater with its cantilevered "endless bridge" that project manager John Pfeifer and international architect Jean Nouvel argued about. As it was designed, John didn't think they could build it and Jean did. In the end I'm not sure if they changed the design or what but it is still floating out over River Road with a great view of the Mississippi River.
Speaking of John Pfeifer, I owe him several of these Belgian Ales that we brewed in January and finally bottled a few weeks ago. It's a good brew. People of Neuenburg am Rhein listen: do you recognize the Freiburger Beer glass?
Last night while relaxing in the basement, Nigel hopped up on Sue for some relaxation while Ravel leaped up on me. Nigel is still very much interested in the Marsh Pride of lions on Big Cat Diary. He actually looks away from the TV when the cheetahs or leopards are featured. He's a lion guy and he looks like a 3 month old lion cub.

I've lost track of the new Viking stadium construction schedule but I think they will still play in the Metrodome for the entire 2013 season. Construction will start in the parking lot of the Dome many months before they have to deflate the marshmallow.
Here's my hospital which is lately involved in rumors of mergers, takeovers, and acquisitions. The latest news is talks of the University of Minnesota buying Fairview. Followers of corporate mergers will recall that the Fairview system bought the U hospital in 1997. Now the tables have turned and we're not just talking about the U hospital but the entire Fairview system. Wait and see. I did learn that Fairview was founded by the ELCA Lutherans. Who knew?
This is the stand for the vintage globe that needs to be repaired. It is getting so wobbly that I decided to remove is from the cat motor cross dirt obstacle course / front entryway to our house. These guys play hard.
We had snow on Friday. The Twins had their home opener on Monday when the temperature at game time was 32 degrees Fahrenheit (0 degrees Centigrade).
This photo is blurry but I wanted everyone to see Sue's "crazy eyes". She's either crazy or just happy to see Mr. Ravel.
Homemade toys are the best. This is two shoelaces tied to a paper grocery bag. This morning Nigel grabbed the shoelace and ran around the circle (living room, kitchen, dining room, front entry way) with the bag tailing behind like a kite. The bag got stuck and loudly tore away from the string. Nigel hid for the next several minutes. Mr. Ravel wore a red collar briefly. Nigel has yet to agree to wear a collar.
This is the new ramp that leads from northbound 52 to westbound 94. Remember this used to be a cloverleaf ramp but now it is a "tuck-under and pass-through," a term I just invented (trademark). The tall building is Cray Tower, home to St. Paul Prep--we recently heard that Christoph's application is all in order. As far as our trip to Germany goes, Sue is watching the airfares like a cheetah stalking a gazelle.
