Vacation Fun
We were back to our favorite beach location – Live Aqua in Cancun – for our birthdays/early Spring Break. It was glorious!
Our room was decorated when we arrived.
This was the first of many special treats.
Our favorite lunch restaurant made a special fruit arrangement
This was waiting in our cabana when we arrived!
We had lots of delicious meals and I was a pretty adventurous eater. (It’s easy when it’s all inclusive) I tried lobster, ceviche (raw fish), salmon and Huitlacoche soup. Huitlacoche is “corn fungus” and apparently it’s a delicacy. It was much more delicious than it sounds – a combined taste of mushroom and corn tortilla.
They had done their research and this was my evening birthday cake! Even Tailwheel made an appearance in Cancun.
A view of the resort from the pools in the evening.
There was lots of good music including this trio singing poolside one afternoon. Check out the shoes!
The view from our lunch spot
The view from our cabana. The water was a little colder but less wavy. It was fun swimming!
That’s lobster --- on my plate! Doug thinks he had some sort of fish at every single meal – breakfast, lunch and dinner.
One of Doug’s favorite – salmon tartar
As expected, the Mexican restaurant was terrific! We like that there are lots of little things instead of giant portions served at each menu.
At our last dinner on our last night, the waiters brought out the fire. At some point, all of these glasses were on fire and we were presented with the anise flavored liquor at the end.
This was the view of the sunrise from our room on the last morning. It’s as though Cancun was saying “please come back”.

A Place For Everything
Now that the kitchen is done, it was time to put away all the “stuff”. It seems like there was a place for everything and a little extra room too.
A well organized pantry including a whole rack of spices.
The pantry is amazing!
Bar Cabinet
Dishes to the Ceiling
The Coffee Station above the coffee pot
Some extra space!
Roll-Out Shelves are amazing!

Done!
The kitchen is done and we couldn’t be happier with the results. Everything turned out even nicer than we expected.
On time. On budget. Better than expected finish. That’s what I call success.
Japanese lantern lights
Super cool faucet
New Refrigerator and Dishwasher
Mary The Tanzanian Cheetah has her own special niche
The old floor and stove go nicely with the new everything else.
The backsplash is even better than we expected.
We bought the floor model of the convection microwave. We’ll figure out how to use it eventually.
The new fridge has water in the door! Ravel is very curious about the noise it makes when we use the dispenser.
We really missed having a dishwasher! No more washing dishes in the laundry sink.
