Warning: Sue starts school on Monday so summer is ending! Last night we hosted an Eau Claire Friend BBQ in our back yard. Present were the Buddes including all 4 boys, Chris Fulton, Tim and Angela with little Vinny, Stacy and Dan Julson and neighbors Stef and Jimmy. Then today we met Pete and Katie and their girls for lunch at the 5 8 Tavern where we enjoyed some original Jucy Lucy burgers. Pete and Katie are in town visiting her brother’s family in Prior Lake.
We walked around the Eau Claire campus when we were in town for the 50th Anniversary Party. Here’s where Sue lived with Nicci, Misty, and Kirsten for a year in college. The address: 1105 State Street.
Here’s Duke escorting his “bride” who is wearing the same dress that Judy wore in 1964. . . A puzzlement?
Sue with her mom’s brother, Uncle Steve (aka Uncle), Aunt Teresa, Aggie (Kathy’s daughter) and her cousin Kathy.
The Duke-meister, Mike’s baby brother with Aggie. Aggie is starting 7th grade.
Here’s cousin Andy (Steve and Theresa’s son) and his wife Michelle.
The bride and groom each wearing buttons showing photos of themselves in 1964.
The Doug and the Sharon (Sharon is Wild Cousin John’s wife). Sharon may be as wild as John.
Uncle Duke made up some roadside signs to greet the guests as they walked up the ramp to the party. “Once upon a time in 1964 . . .
“. . . a red head wed a motor head . . .”
“. . . They’ve been together . . “
“. . .50 years and life just gets. . .”
“ . . . better and better!”

Sue just announced “she’s in the air!” Bantita (Fahsai) Tetsaenghtam, our new student from Thailand has just departed Bangkok at 545pm our time on Saturday and will land tomorrow, Sunday at 1245pm (19 hours). So for Fahsai, she is leaving at 545am on Sunday and arriving on the same day! You’ve got to love that international dateline!
Sue created the welcome poster which looks like a smiling face with the Thai flag as the nose.
Fahsai has a six hour flight to Tokyo followed by a two hour layover and then closing with an eleven hour flight to Minneapolis. We stopped at the airport overlook on Highway 13 to see some of the big international flights depart. We watched the 305pm Delta flight to Amsterdam and the 315pm Delta flight to Tokyo.
Sue called the Delta number to check on the Tokyo departure while I took a selfie. We are thankful to live in a city with a true international airport. From here, not including Canada and Mexico, you can fly non-stop to Iceland (Iceland Air), Amsterdam (3 Delta flights), London (Delta), Paris (Air France and Delta), Frankfurt (Condor Air), and Tokyo (Delta). Not too shabby.
