Prepping for The Party

We put the old couch on Craig’s List advertising it as “FREE COUCH”.  Starting at 7am on Wednesday morning we had it on display on the front curb.  At 8am a woman knocked on the door asking about the couch and could she pick it up on her way home from work.  She and I moved it into the backyard and Sue took it off of Craig’s List so someone else wouldn’t come by to load it up.  She said it was perfect for her friend who just got out of a homeless shelter and had found an apartment that was nearby.  It was nice that we could find a home for the couch in someone’s living room who has no furniture.

Our Lay Internship Committee is giving Daniel this framed calligraphy and water color piece by church member Maxine Bergh.  Daniel told us this Isaiah verse was one of his favorite bible verses. It turned out rather nice.

We drove out to the country yesterday and met Mike and Judy at the Texas Roadhouse in Eau Claire.  We had a nice steak dinner celebrating their actual 50th Wedding Anniversary.  Then today we started to set up for the big party which takes place Sunday afternoon.  Judy bought a bunch of flowers from the Eau Claire farmer’s market and got busy arranging them for the ten dinner tables.  The album is one from the early 1960s featuring Mike Berg on electric bass.  Sue had a friend put it into digital format for use on the party playlist featuring music from 1964.  You know your band has made it to the big time when your music is on an I-tunes play list with the Beatles.

Sue borrowed Carla’s table cloth idea of covering loose photos with a thin piece of vinyl.  There are photos from Mike and Judy’s entire 50 year marriage.  I saw at least one of Johanna Grunau, favorite exchange grand daughter and one of original cat Milhaud.  The Texas grand daughters are well represented.

The temperature in the barn was pretty comfortable this morning but if the sun is out tomorrow, it may be pretty sweltering.

Here’s the flower arranging area.

We were worried about how we’d hook up my computer and its I-tunes list with the barn sound system.  In case we had problems, we brought my I-pod and Sue’s work computer which is a Mac.  In the end, we got it to work with my computer.

Mr. Tailwheel has been happy to see us and especially happy that we didn’t bring his wild cousins Ravel and Nigel.
