The Crossroads of America

IMG_9310

On Monday we had planned on visiting Mike and Judy (Host Grandparents) in Wisconsin while Sue was hard at work teaching tomorrow’s leaders.  Judy asked if we could pick up a vanity and sink at Home Depot.  Eau Claire, the world headquarters of rival company Menards, lacks a Home Depot.  We grabbed it at our Inver Grove store and hit the road to Eleva.

We took “the scenic route” also known as US highway 10.  Here is Johanna mailing something at the post office in Eleva at the intersection that one writer dubbed “the Crossroads of America” (Berg-Williams, 2006, p. 72).

(Did you enjoy the fake citation in APA style?  The “one writer” was me.)

We enjoyed a tastefully simple cheesy potato soup, beer bread and homemade apple sauce lunch with the Host Grandparents. . .

and posed for a few photos before heading down to the barn in Eleva.

The Schultz Family Farms is where the 50th Anniversary Celebration will take place this summer.  We stopped in to preview the setup and possibilities.

We may need this silo for something.

Here’s the main hall. It’ll be a good party.

Today, Johanna went to St. Paul Prep to visit some teachers and students and collect Christoph’s transcript from last semester.  I’m sure his grades were not as good as his older sister’s.  I’m trying to finish a big paper for my class.
