Last weekend we made some of the last cuts on the wood trim project and are virtually finished now. Here I took off the quarter round that previously looked great so I could apply some wood glue to hold the one inch strip of floor locked in place. Then I shimmed it up until the glue dried.
This is the junction at the back hall entrance to the kitchen where baseboard oak trim, bamboo floor, bamboo quarter round, bamboo T-mold, and tile all meet. The tile floor in the bathroom and back hall ended up being at a slightly (yet noticeable) higher elevation. That’s all good but I had to ask Leon to make one final cut to shave off some more from the bottom of a piece of trim. By the way, don’t look too closely at the scratches and generalized ugliness of the trim. It is 13 years old as of last month!
Ravel enjoys pushing every single one of his toys under the stove and then making valiant attempts at retrieval. His favorite toy is still the dirt colored “taco”.
I bought a $4.99 hack saw to trim off the bottom 3/4 inch of this corner molding so the quarter round would meet up properly at the corner. Success.
Actually, the final task will be to glue down the three transition T-mold pieces between the tile and the wood floor. I bought some adhesive from Menards but now I realize I need a caulk gun. Back to Menards. The goal is to glue the strip down to the tile but not to the wood floor since it needs to “float” with the changes in temperature and humidity.
Bad boys being as bad as they want to be. At lease they don’t puke at all and their shedding is not too bad.
Here’s autumn as seen from Christoph’s window. On Saturday morning he’s getting on a bus for a 24 hour ride to Washington DC. He’ll visit New York City and stop at Niagara Falls on the way back on this 8 day trip. No one asked me if I wanted to chaperone.
Wednesday morning we woke up to about a half inch (about 1.27 centimeters) of snow. There is a whole lot of raking to do yet before winter settles in . . .
