I dropped Makiko-chan off at the airport last Thursday. Here she is displaying one last set of "jazz hands" showing off the mittens that Mike and Judy gave her three years ago. This was the smoothest drop off/check in at the airport that I have ever been a part of. We parked in the short term area (aka, the rock star parking), walked in and checked Makiko's 46 pound bag at the underground Delta check in, and went up the escalator to the empty security checkpoint. No waiting. Amazing. Makiko's flight was direct from Minneapolis to Tokyo Narita - around 11 hours. She said she'd take a bus from the airport to her home in Saitama on the opposite side of Tokyo.
Here is the aftermath of yesterday's snow "storm". As usual, the weather guy over predicted the size of the storm. Anyway, I woke up today, February 11th, my birthday to a fresh coating of snow.
My name is Doug and I'm 42 year old.
Other life events of note this occurring this week: My parents celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary on Saturday. Sister Cheryl turns 43 tomorrow and sister Diane turns 46 on Valentine's Day. And last but not least, Susan turns 42 on Friday. We will celebrate in the car on the way to Milwaukee for the weekend where we'll attend Chuck and Dorene's 50th Anniversary Dinner Party. It's a big week
We really enjoyed Makiko's short visit even though we were fighting jet lag every evening last week. I told her the next time we see her, she'll be showing us around the greater Tokyo area.
Sci-Fi fans know that "42" is the answer to the ultimate question of the meaning of Life, the Universe, and Everything. The question has not been well defined but the answer is most definitely 42.
Keep checking back for some more Tanzania photos.
